How a class works

Study Helper is a teacher that works only from the notes you upload. Accounts, outlines and notes are JSON files in your GitHub repository. Passwords are stored as SHA-256 hashes.

  1. Register and tell the app your level, exam board (for example MANEB, or your college), subjects and study hours.
  2. Upload your notes. A PDF over 1 MB is split into parts in your browser. Your teacher reads them and keeps the content.
  3. Today shows what your teacher decided: the next class, practice, or revision. You never have to pick a topic.
  4. Live class draws the lesson in chalk and speaks it slowly in English or Chichewa. When many students are online, classes run in turns and you wait in line.
  5. Raise hand uses the microphone when the browser has it. You can always type.
  6. After a class your teacher decides whether to set an exercise. You can type your answers or hand in a photo or PDF (up to 1 MB).
  7. Each student gets a fair number of teacher requests every day. The count refreshes at midnight, Malawi time.

Chichewa speech uses a ny-MW voice when the device has one. If it does not, the words are still Chichewa and the device voice does its best.
